Experience an unforgettable evening of original Kimberley music under the stars ON Saturday 29th August as Mabu Nurlu Buru (Good Song Country) brings together three outstanding First Nations singer-songwriters, each with their own unique voice, stories and connection to Country. Representing Broome/Djarindjin, Saltwater Kin blend rich harmonies, heartfelt storytelling and contemporary sounds, and are currently in the studio recording their highly anticipated debut album. From Derby/Broome, Stellar Moon & the Dark Knights deliver a powerful blend of soul, blues and roots, creating performances that are heartfelt, uplifting and deeply connected to people and place. Following the release of her debut album Phases, Stellar Moon is currently recording her second album. Representing Fitzroy Crossing/Halls Creek, Bart Marr & the Now or Never Boyz bring high-energy country rock infused with Kimberley heart and humour. Fresh from the studio earlier this year, they’ll be celebrating the release of their debut single on the night. The Floating Lanterns is a free community event. One of the most beautiful moments of the festival. Inspired by the Japanese Obon celebration, this ceremony honours loved ones with lanterns drifting on the waters. Held at Gantheaume Beach, this special evening is a tribute to loved ones past and present. Create a personalised lantern, gently release your lantern into the sea and take a moment to reflect.

Broome Town Band is a welcoming community concert band bringing people together through music. The Staircase to the Moon is a natural phenomenon observed in Broome Western Australia between April and October only. It is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting on the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide creating a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching up to the moon.

Shinju Matsuri Art Awards presented by the Shire of Broome - where the board of judges will be announcing and awarding the winners of 8 art categories. Monday 31st August from 6pm - 8pm at the Broome Civic Centre. With a drink on arrival, explore the bold, the brilliant, and the boundary-pushing artworks in this year’s awards. The exhibition will stay open daily from 10am-4pm Tuesday 1st September to Saturday 5th September and 10am-2pm on Sunday, 6th September.

Live Music: Jake Stephen at the Shinju Matsuri Festival Hub, Town Beach from 6pm-8pm on Monday 31st August. Free event. Jake Stephen has been a mainstay in the Broome music scene for over a decade. You’ve probably seen him in a local band or two whether that be The Turps or Turbo Dogs, or maybe you’ve seen him perform at Nannup Music Festival or Blues at Bridgetown. Jake has been recording his original music in preparation for an album release in the (hopefully) near future. Expect plenty of original music as he comes to the Shinju Hub for one night only.
